Kay Gilbert’s paintings, are a vibrant and eclectic blend of mediums and techniques. Kay refers to her works of art process as “Abstract Realism.” She works with a variety of materials, including oil and acrylic paints, pastels and even her fingers (finger oil paintings) to create unique textures and effects. Her paintings often feature bold brush strokes, vibrant colors, and organic patterns, giving them a playful, whimsical feel.

Kay Gilbert’s artistic process is highly intuitive. Kay allows herself to be guided by her emotions, instincts and observations which allow her to create art that is authentic, expressive, unique, and captivating. At the same time, she respects traditions of art history. She draws inspiration from various art movements and styles creating her own unique style. She paints every day because painting is in her blood and her mind is always looking for colors and ideas for the next work of art. Often, she paints what she calls dream paintings. If a painting idea shows up in her dreams, she must paint it right away or it will constantly show up in her mind day after day. Each of her paintings are original ideas and one of a kind.
